Robin Ballard ist Autorin und Illustratorin von mehreren Kinderbüchern. Geboren im Jahre 1965 in Los Angeles, wuchs sie in Kaliformien und Britisch Kolumbien auf. Mit 18 lebte sie für ein Jahr in Paris, wo sie sich an der Parson School of Design und verschiedenen Künstlerateliers mit der Malerei auseinandersetzte. Nach ihrer Rückkehr in die Vereinigten Staaten besuchte sie die Cooper Union School of Art in New York. Sie veröffentlichte ihr erstes Buch „Cat and Alex and the Magic Flying Carpet“ im Jahre 1989. Seither arbeitete sie mit verschiedenen Verlagen zusammen, aber die meisten ihrer Bücher erschienen bei Greenwillow Books, New York. Von 1992-1994 arbeitete sie zudem als Grafikerin bei Lothrop, Lee and Shepherd, New York, und unterrichtete an der Cooper Union of Art. 1994 siedelte sie mit ihrem Mann in die Schweiz. Heute leben sie in Basel und haben einen Hund und zwei wilde Jungs.
